Whisky Galore was founded in 1987 by Hamish MacRae, a former warehouseman who realised that the casks he tended each day were quietly becoming some of the most interesting things in Scotland.
We do one thing, and we have done it for nearly four decades: we find good casks, we look after them properly, and we pass them — eventually, and only when the moment is right — to people who will treat them with the same care.
We are deliberately small. We hold no shareholders, take no outside investment, and refuse to bottle anything we would not happily drink ourselves. Most of what we sell is sold by word of mouth, to clients we have known for years.

No distillery owns us, and we own no distillery. We are honest brokers.
Every cask and bottle comes with full HMRC and warehouse documentation.
Whisky cannot be rushed. Neither can a good purchase.
